Founded by Floyd and Elizabeth (Beth) Alves in 1972, originally as Alves Christian Outreach, the ministry of Intercessors International (I.I.) has consistently been used to equip others to pray more effectively and to bring the good news of new life in Christ to the unreached. The work of I.I. is broad, far-reaching and many faceted. Each outreach and program has a single common focus: prayer.

After four years living in Germany, Floyd and Beth returned to their home in Bulverde, Texas in the middle 1980s. The Lord then revealed to Beth His plans for the ministry which included: establishing a worldwide prayer ministry to intercede for missionaries, ministers and spiritual leaders, writing a practical book on prayer (the "PRAYER MANUAL"), and conducting Prayer Seminars to train and enlist intercessors.

The decade of the 90s became a time of tremendous growth. Beth's Prayer Manual, was revised and published as The Mighty Warrior: A Guide to Effective Prayer, which is the teaching text used in our Prayer Seminars. Today we have many instructors who have been certified to teach Prayer Seminars all over the world.

Prayer journeys have taken our ministry teams to many Asian, Middle East and Third World nations. A program to provide 24-hour, on-site prayer coverage for international events also began. Offices were opened in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Austin, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, The Netherlands, and during 2000 in Korea.

Today the Lord is continuing to open doors of ministry and services to the body of Christ through the many employees and dedicated volunteers of Intercessors International.
